Statistics on Student Progress

The GRADE LEVEL GAINS chart shows the beginning of Mariposa therapy (RED) and the end of therapy (BLUE) average grade level scores in the areas of Reading, Word Attack skills (the ability to sound out unfamiliar words), Reading Comprehension and Spelling.

The average GRADE LEVEL GAINS made were:

Reading (2.2 grade levels)

Word Attack (7.0 grade levels)

Comprehension (1.6 grade levels)

Spelling (1.1 grade levels)

As can be seen from this chart, the greatest gain was made in Word Attack.  This was the phonics skill that was the weakest for all of the students at the beginning of therapy.  Strengthening the Word Attack skills brought up the other three areas.

All scores were obtained using standardized tests.  The average total length of therapy time was 80 hours.

The STANDARD SCORE GAINS chart shows average standard score gains following Mariposa therapy.  A standard score in the range of 85 to 115 reflects an average performance.  This chart shows that the four areas were all below average when therapy began.  Upon completion of therapy, all four areas were within the average range for the students' ages and grades.
